The city government of Vigan is inviting everyone to join the city in the 2012 World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival. Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina said the festival runs from September 4 to 9. As a Unesco-listed World Heritage Site, Vigan is cited as "a unique fusion of Asian building design and construction with European colonial architecture and planning" and "an exceptionally intact and well preserved example of a European trading town in East and East Asia."

Solidarity Day celebration
Solidarity Day celebration started on September 8, 2002 after Unesco listed Vigan as a World Heritage Site on December 2, 1999. The six-day celebration for 2012 include the opening of food and trade fairs along Florentino street, Fotografia y Recuerdos and Historia Oral at the Vigan Culture and trade Center on the morning of September 4.The Sabayang Pagbigkas (speech chorus), a zarzuela Ilocana (Ilocano stage play), daniw (poetry) and dallot (debate in poetry) will be at Plaza Burgos on the evening of September 5. The youth will compete on folk dancing, vocal chorus, duet and solo in the evening of September 6 at Plaza Burgos.
On Friday evening, September 7, the people of Vigan will showcase their music and dance artistry through the 'Kinnantaan' (singing), and Latin and standard dance sports. September 8, Solidarity Day, will start with a Eucharistic celebration at the Conversion of Saint Paul Cathedral at 6 a.m., followed by the pledge of commitment to the ideals of World Heritage Sites by the people of Vigan.
A solidarity breakfast follows at Leona Florentino Street, and GMA Kapuso Day at Plaza Burgos. In the afternoon, Repazzo de Vigan, street dramatization of Vigan history will start at 1 p.m. The celebration ends with a cultural show and awarding of winners at Plaza Burgos on September 9.
